What authors, or books have influenced you?
My biggest influence is Stephen King, which may come as no surprise. His work and his book "On Writing" really helped shape my work.
I am also inspired by many classics, including Poe, Doyle, the Bronte sisters, and Tolkien. I also read Ellen Schreiber, Darren Shan, and Zac Brewer growing up, and their work was detrimental in my deciding what genre I would write in.
What are you working on now?
I am editing the third Paranormal Detectives book, "Life Sentence". I can't say much without giving spoilers, but we see a lot of new foes, like demons, and we also see Angelica Cross trying desperately to adjust to a very difficult situation in her life.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don't give up. I have a stack of rejection letters, some of which made me cry and want to quit. If this is your dream, don't let ANYONE stand in your way, least of all yourself.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I have gotten a lot of great advice, but the best thing was from my publisher, and that is to get yourself out there. Make an online presence. Promote. This is your career, and you need to invest in yourself.
I hope to finish the Paranormal Detectives Series's next book (a novella coming between books three and four), and I have a short horror story releasing on June 28th from CHBB Publishing, in the "Lurking In The Shadows" anthology.
